The biggest hidden feature of shared housing is not the price. It is that you land in Curaçao already living with ten or thirteen other people who are exactly your age and just as new as you are.
By day two you have shared a kitchen. By day four you have gone to a beach together. By week two, someone is planning a weekend trip in the group chat and you have inside jokes.
Where new friendships actually happen
Not in an app. In real, physical, everyday places.

The single most powerful social space on the island. Someone is always cooking, always swimming, always about to go somewhere.
- Beach club Sundays
Everyone goes. You will run into your housemates and meet three new groups just from sharing a table.
- Snorkel and dive days
Nothing bonds a group faster than being in the water together. Trip planning becomes a weekly ritual.
- Rental car carpools
Whoever has the car that day is instantly the plug. Errand runs and beach runs turn into hangouts.
- Local sports and gyms
Padel, beach volleyball, CrossFit boxes. Small scene, easy to become a regular in one week.
- Pietermaai on Fridays
The whole young international crowd is in a few blocks. Overlap with the same faces two weekends in a row and you have a group.
The kinds of people who come here
American students on a semester abroad, Dutch interns doing a stage, young remote workers looking for sun, medical and dive students, and full-timers building small businesses on the island. It is a small, motivated, international crowd, and it self-selects for people who are open to meeting each other.
Almost everyone speaks English. Locals do too. Language will not be your barrier.
How our residents build a circle in two weeks
Say yes to the first four things you get invited to, even if you would normally skip them. Cook dinner for the house once. Learn one person's name every day for the first ten days. Bring your laptop to the pool instead of your room.
That is honestly it. The island does most of the work. You just have to show up.
